Mid-week Message

Greetings!

Let me hear what you will speak when I turn to you in my heart.” - Psalm 85:8

In Celtic Spirituality, deepening our relationship with God is called: Listening for the Heartbeat of God. Jesus dwells in our hearts through faith. When we listen to our heartbeat, when we quiet our thoughts and open ourselves to hear God within us, we are listening for the heartbeat of God within our own heart. As we listen and learn to hear Jesus’ voice within our hearts, what is he saying to us?

God is love. In Galatians 5:22-23, the Fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Jesus loves us with a love beyond our imagining. When we hear God speak to us within our hearts, we will hear the voice of love, gentleness, patience, kindness. As we grow deeper, we develop our self-control over our inner critic, quieting this negative inner voice so that the voice of God—the inner voice of love—grows louder. When we listen to God speak the fruits of the Spirit to us, we learn to speak them to ourselves and also to others. In this way, we imitate God as ambassadors of love and reconciliation in the world.

Grace and peace, Rev. Sarina
