Greetings, “You are dust and to dust you shall return.” - Genesis 3:19b Lent begins tomorrow with Ash Wednesday. We begin Lent with Ash Wednesday to remind us that we are dust and to dust we shall return. This symbol—dust/ashes—reminds us to humble ourselves. Lent is a time when we humble ourselves and prayerfully reflect on our lives. The Christian life is one of learning. Greetings! Today is Valentine’s Day! We celebrate love today. When Jesus summarizes all the teachings of God, he says that what matters most is that we love God, our neighbors, and ourselves. It is as much and as simple as that. In celebration of love and in the spirit of this spiritual challenge to live love, I encourage you to be inspired by this passage from 1 John 4:7-21. Brett talked to us on Sunday about how Presbyterian World Service and Development (PWS&D) lives the Lord’s Prayer. One of the ways they do this is through disaster assistance around the world.
