Each week at Briarwood, on Tuesday and Thursday, NOVA runs a Day Centre for the frail elderly. This gives a day of respite to caregivers and a chance for interaction with others for the elderly clients. There is a NOVA Program/Activity Coordinator on site, as well as Health Aide and many volunteers. Delightful activities and a hot lunch are provided.

NOVA is a not-for-profit charitable organization which receives no federal or provincial government funding and provides service without regard for a person's ability to pay. Their specialty is palliative home nursing care. NOVA programs fill gaps in the health system and the Day Centre is one such program.

Much of the funding for NOVA comes from the Café and the Thrift Shop in Ste. Anne de Bellevue where many Briarwood members volunteer.

Briarwood helps by finding volunteers (which need not be every week, but bi-weekly, once a month, depending upon availability).  Volunteers are needed as companions, drivers, cooks and servers.  All volunteers do not have to belong to Briarwood. If you have a friend, neighbour or relative who is interested, that would be great. Training will be provided.

NOVA looks forward to your continued support. Please call
Virginia with any questions.

Help Needed - NOVA Adult Day Centre
NOVA need cooks for one week per month on a Thursday to prepare a simple meal. A team of two or three people is good. If you would like to help, please call the NOVA West Island office at (514) 695-8335.
